MonteMateo is an estate of 1 Hectare approx. situated in the Natural Reserve of La Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche to the north of Huelva. The property is next to Galaroza, one of the most beautiful villages in the area. Galaroza is 3 km away and Navahermosa (a tiny hamlet) is only 1km.

In Winter the climate is mild but sometimes wet with cold nights and in the Summer it is hot and dry in the daytime and cool at night. The abundant vegetation and surrounding hills make it much cooler in the Summer than in other areas of Andalusia.

The estate is situated in a sloping, sleepy valley protected from the winds and more importantly, south facing. There are two independent houses - Casa Roja (3 bedrooms, sleeps 8) and Casa Ocre (two bedrooms, sleeps 6) - which are surrounded by a huge garden that comprises olive groves, cork trees, a pear and quince orchard and cherry trees.

Both the cottages are fully furnished. Both comprise a dining/drawing room with fireplace, TV and stereo, a fully-fitted kitchen/breakfast room, the  bedrooms with their own linen,  bathroom / shower room (including towels), veranda and a huge terrace with stunning views.

The houses have been bioclimatically designed and built according to the traditional rustic style of the region using materials of the best quality – solid wooden beams, solid chestnut window frames, terracotta floor tiles and double glazing for efficient insulation.

The covered verandas make the best of the Andalusian sunshine and enjoy beautiful views. The veranda terrace is stone paved using a typical local method found only in the sierra and are equipped with barbecues and a pergola which can support a vine to provide a cooling Mediterranean shade.

The nearest village for shopping and supplies is 3 km away and the main town is only 12 km away. Seville airport can be easily reached and is only 100 km from the house, Jerez airport is 180 km or alternatively Malaga airport is 300 km. The nearest Portuguese airport is Faro and this is 150 km.

The houses are connected to the mains electricity and water supply. The Swimming pool is 6x4 mts with a filter system.

The maintenance of the Garden and swimming pool is provided by the owner.
